Applicants must be physically and mentally healthy, friendly to China, have no criminal record, and be non-Chinese citizens holding a valid regular foreign passport.
Applicants must possess a high school diploma or above.
Language proficiency requirements
lf an applicant wants to study this program for one academic year (starting in September 2026) no Chinese language proficiency is required. lf an applicant wants to study this program for onlyone semester (starting in February 2027), an official HSK Level 3 certificate is required with a scoreof over 180.
Applicants must meet the criteria specified in the Notice by the Ministry of Education of Regulating Admission of intemational Students to China's Higher Education Institutions (Letter No. 12 [2020] of the Ministry of Education).

Program Description
Preparatory Program overview
This International Student Undergraduate Preparatory Program provides six-month to one-year training for graduated high school students who are interested in embarking on undergraduate studies at SDU. This preparatory program will help students improve their Chinese language abilities as well as their knowledge in fields such as mathematics, physics and chemistry. After the preparatory program international students who have received excellent scores can obtain priority admission to SDU undergraduate programs.
Aim of the program
This program will increase the student’s Chinese language skills so as to ensure that participants are able to pass the language requirements needed to enroll in a Chinese-taught undergraduate program. In addition to the language training students will gain a general knowledge on a variety of basic subjects. Students who have qualified for undergraduate studies will be able to choose from any undergraduate program taught in the Chinese language.
Learning outcomes
The learning outcome should be to pass an HSK 3 exam (270 points) after half a year or pass a HSK level 4 exam (210 points) after one year. If students pass an HSK level 4 exam they will fulfill the language requirements for enrollment in an undergraduate degree taught in Chinese. The basic subjects will teach general knowledge with the stated outcome of enabling students to have a good starting position when commencing their undergraduate studies. The basic subjects are listed below and all mandatory. These will be given in the second semester of the academic year.
If, after completing the preparatory courses, the student decides to discontinue his/her studies at SDU, he/she can be recommended by Shandong University to continue studying at other Chinese universities.
Methods of assessment
The assessments are done through written exams, presentations and group projects. If the student passes all the exams, he or she will successfully finish the SDU International Student Undergraduate Preparatory Program.

Applicants must submit the Certificate of No Criminal Record issued by local public security management department. It should be valid within 6 months prior to the application date.
*2. Scanned copies of the financial guarantee materials, including
(1) Scanned copies of passport or identification document of the financial guarantor (limited to the applicant or immediate family member)

(2) Proof of financial support, with deposits of no less than 50,000 RMB or an equivalent amount in foreign currency*3. The high school diploma or equivalent or pre-graduation certification.
Graduation certificate in languages other than Chinese or English should be translated into Chinese or English and be certified by notarization.
*4. Transcripts of all courses taken when pursuing the high school degree (the official seal of the school must be affixed).

*5. Language proficiency certificate
Applicants applying for one semester (starting in February 2027), an official HSK Level 3 certificate is required with a score of over 180. The language certificate must be within the validity period (within two years after issue) at the time of application. If applicants provide Chinese language certificate, it is required to be signed by the relevant responsible person and stamped with the school seal.

Applicants must take physical examinations in strict accordance with the requirements of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form, which must be fully filled in. Incomplete forms or forms without signature of the attending physician, hospital stamp, and stamped photo will not be considered. Please ensure the physical examination remains valid during the application as the result is valid for only 6 months.

For applicants who are in China: If you are an employee, you still need to provide employment separation certificate and your current residence permit.
