General Requirements
Applicants must be physically and mentally healthy, friendly to China, have no criminal record, and be non-Chinese citizens holding a valid regular foreign passport. Applicants must possess a Bachelor's degree awarded by an institution accredited by the Chinese Ministry of Education.
Language Proficiency Requirements
English-taught Programs
Applicants whose native language is English are exempt from providing English language proficiency certificates, Applicants whose native language is not English must provide proof of English language proficiency with the results of IELTS (6.0 orabove), TOEFL (80 points or above, SDU's DI code: C296), MyBest Scores (80 points or above), Essentials test (8 points orabove), or other equivalent English language proficiency certificates. Applicants whose native language is not English but have received their highest level of education taught in English are exempt from providing IELTS/TOEFL certificates and other proof of English proficiency, but must submit proof of the language of instruction.
Note: The exit and entry administration authority of the Chinese public security organ will determine whether the applicant has Chinese nationality in addition to foreign nationality based on the results of the nationality determination. If it is determined that the applicant holds Chinese nationality after application, admission, or enrollment, the application, admission, or study qualification will be annulled.

I strongly wish to pursue a Master's in International Relations from Shandong University (SDU), due to the reputation of the university, its focus on global governance, and fostering international collaboration. My academic background and professional experience have given me a profound passion for international affairs, diplomacy, and sustainable development; thus, I consider that SDU's program is the most ideal choice to take my career forward.
Shandong University is one of China's oldest and most renowned universities with a long tradition of excellence in political science and international studies. The research emphasis, especially in international governance and international development, will be the perfect setting for me to hone my analytical mind and policy-oriented thinking. I am especially attracted to the interdisciplinary approach of the program that combines political science, law, and economics—key factors in addressing intricate global issues.
In addition, SDU's emphasis on international cooperation is of particular interest to me. The potential university collaborations worldwide present aligns with my own international vision. I am excited at the prospect of developing my international vision further and learning from instructors and peers with varied international perspectives. In addition, SDU's activities in China, a key player in international politics and international trade, will allow me to see the direct impact of international relations forces in Asia.
My previous academic background in marketing and management has provided me with analytical expertise and a problem-solving attitude, which I am eager to apply in the practice of international relations. My career ambition in the long term is to work in an international institution, such as the United Nations or an international nongovernmental organization, and contribute constructively to policymaking and sustainable development initiatives. SDU's emphasis on diplomacy, global governance, and regional collaboration will provide me with the ability to make a positive difference in these fields.
In sum, I am convinced that the International Relations program at Shandong University will provide me with the intellectual grounding and professional contacts necessary for career growth. - The two-year master’s program will be fully taught in English
- This program provides several different research concentrations, like International Cooperation, Regional Studies (Europe, East Asia), International Security, Chinese Foreign Policy, and China and the World.
- Graduates will earn a Master’s Degree of International Relations, recognized by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China.

The physical examinations must be fully filled in. Incomplete forms or forms without the signature of the attending physician, and the official stamp of the hospital, and a stamped photograph will not be considered. Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English should be translated into Chinese or English and be certified by notarization.
*8. Undergraduate diploma/degree certificate or pre-graduation certificate
The pre-graduation certificate must be stamped with the school seal, indicating the expected graduation date, and the graduation and degree certificates must be obtained before the registration date of the corresponding year.
All application documents must be in Chinese or English. If the documents are in other languages, the original document and a certified translation in English or Chinese must be uploaded together.*9. Two recommendation letters from a professor(s) or associate professor(s) related to the applied major (or equivalent professionals with relevant academic title).
Referrer’s name (signature), title, institution, phone number and email address are required on the recommendation letters.
*10. A letter of motivation in Chinese or English.
The motivation letter should be written in accordance with the requirements of the template. Applicants applying for Chinese-taught programs should write in Chinese, and applicants applying for English-taught programs should write in English.

*12. Certificate of No Criminal Conviction
Applicants must submit the Certificate of No Criminal Record issued by local public security management department. It should be valid within 6 months prior to the application date.
Tips:
For applicants who are in China: If you are an employee, you still need to provide employment separation certificate and your current residence permit. If you are a student, you need to provide transfer certificate, leaving certificate, certificate of attendance rate issued by previous school and your current residence permit. - Video
